Hearts 3

Blake Kern

Collage and acrylic

20” x 24”
$200

The heart is the center of emotion and the soul. The Ancient Egyptians believed that the heart was the moral compass, whereas Aristotle theorized that it was the heart that held all of the emotions and desires. In this art love gives you wings to fly and your lover will give you reasons to stay.

About the Artist:

Collage is a favorite art form for Blake’s one-of-a-kind cards, while a mixed media approach is utilized when creating her unique altered books, canvases and boxes.

She begins with an idea or sense of where she wants to go, and by the end of the process she often finds herself somewhere unexpected. Her goal is to not only evoke an emotional response, but to tell a story. “I want you to make small discoveries when you look at a card, a book, or a box – I want it to speak to you.”

Blake has been a Donor and Supporter since the beginning of  ACE and an ACE Shop Vendor since 2020.

Annie Doesn’t Live Here Anymore

Sometimes love goes awry. Hearts are broken, but sometimes it’s better to break your own heart by leaving than having your heart broken every day you are with him.

Creature Comforts

Margaret Chiaro

Oil on Wood Panel

39” x 23”

$3,140

Creature Comforts represents the love and companionship between humans and animals.  Our connection to nature has been severed for many and this piece invites the viewer to remember to love all creatures, great and small, no matter how foreign to us.  Technically, this was an exploration of painted textures and lighting using a very limited palette.

About the Artist:

Margaret Chiaro uses figurative painting to invite the viewer to enter a unique world or moment.  Spending hundreds of hours on a single piece, painting everything by hand in traditional techniques, she obsessively renders her subjects, caught in moments when they are open and expressive.  Through her chosen genre, Magical Realism, she fuses reality with imagination to create a visceral new “world” for the subject to dwell in and the viewer to observe.

Margaret has been an ACE Arts Instructor and Volunteer since 2018 and an Art Shop Vendor since 2020.
