an arts integrated curriculum program
Our signature school program is ArtsConnect, a K-8 school program. This program integrates the arts with Common Core subjects. This student program employs Visual and Performing Arts Standards, the Elements and Principles of Art and the connection to art history for each lesson.
Our primary focus is to supplement a sorely underfunded education system by offering schools in the Oceanside Unified School District an arts education program. Using an arts-integrated curriculum program that works in tandem with teachers and administration, students are given a different way to connect through Visual Arts, Music, Movement and Performance while learning core curricula such as Science, Social Studies, Math and English.
Studio ACE is currently working with 4 grades at Laurel Elementary, a total of 11 classes. We have just started at San Luis Rey Elementary with 2 classes, implementing the ArtsConnect program. We will continue to do so in the 2019-2020 school year and more classes at San Luis Rey. Both schools have a majority (96% and 85%) of socioeconomically disadvantaged students. Laurel Elementary principal Freddie Chavarria believes that “without a doubt, test scores and behavior has improved with the addition of an arts education program.”
